My name is Neheda Barakat, and this is my new blog!

Ms. Neheda Barakat has worked as Senior Producer and Acting Bureau Chief for the Australian Broadcasting Company during the course of her career. She began her work in television production with Network Nine in Australia, where she carried out production duties for the nightly program, ‘A Current Affair,’ and the daily morning program, the ‘Today’ show.

Ms. Barakat worked at Channel Nine’s Los Angeles bureau, where she produced continuous breaking coverage of the LA riots, the Malibu fires, as well as regular features on stories such as gun control, genomic science, and the elections.

Among her notable production accomplishments, Neheda Barakat has worked as Consulting Producer on ‘Chasing God,’ the 2004 feature documentary investigating the subject of religious faith, a segment on the inside world of Saddam Hussein as told by key figures in his inner circle, and a three-hour special program for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation entitled ‘Women in Sports.’

After Network Nine, Neheda Barakat’s travels then took her to Cyprus, where she produced freelance material on Africa and the Middle East for German and Australian broadcasts.

Her accomplishments at ABC include producing a nightly segment for ABC’s show, the ‘7:30 Report.’ Ms. Barakat also produced and researched for segments featured on ABC’s popular weekly investigative program ‘Four Corners.’

In 2002, ABC asked Neheda Barakat to tackle the job of Executive Producer, and asked her to craft a weekly business program. The program she developed was called ‘Inside Business’ and became one of the network’s premier programs.

After shepherding the show through several successful seasons, Ms. Barakat left in 2005 to work as a freelance producer. Her clients have included the United Nations, Global Vision Productions, and Australian Financial Review’s Boss Magazine.
